Year 2 Travel Back in Time for an Amazing Egyptian Day!

On Friday 30th January, Year 2 enjoyed an amazing Egyptian Day, filled with excitement, learning, and lots of fun! The children stepped back in time to Ancient Egypt and spent the day discovering what life was like thousands of years ago.

The classrooms were transformed into a journey back in time as the children uncovered fascinating facts about mighty pharaohs, towering pyramids, and the life-giving River Nile. One of the highlights of the day was a special video call with experts from the British Museum, where the children had the opportunity to learn from historians and archaeologists. They asked thoughtful questions and were fascinated by the artefacts and stories shared, making the experience truly memorable and inspiring.

The children also took part in a range of hands-on activities throughout the day, including making traditional Egyptian flat bread, which helped them understand what everyday life was like in Ancient Egypt. Creative sessions included Egyptian clay modelling, where pupils carefully shaped their own artefacts, as well as creative Egyptian art and writing hieroglyphics.

It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged, enthusiastic, and proud of their work. Egyptian Day was a fantastic way to bring history to life, and the children should be extremely proud of their focus and teamwork while working like true Ancient Egyptians.

Well done, Year 2, for a truly memorable day!
