There was plenty of excitement at Littlegarth this week as two of our pupils took on an incredible challenge in support of children facing hair loss.
Sisters in Year 4 and 6 made the brave decision to donate their long hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
After years of growing their hair, it is brilliant that their donation could help make a huge difference to another child’s confidence and wellbeing.
Their generosity did not stop there. Alongside donating their hair, the girls have also been raising money for the charity, helping to support the vital work that the Little Princess Trust carries out across the country.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement, the girls have added an extra challenge to their fundraising efforts. If they reach their fundraising target, they will earn the right to cut off the much-loved bun belonging to Mr Crame, our Head of Maths! The prospect of seeing his trademark hairstyle disappear has certainly generated plenty of interest around the school, with pupils eagerly following the fundraising progress.
The girls have shown tremendous compassion, courage, and determination throughout this project. Donating hair is a deeply personal act of kindness, and their willingness to do so in order to help other children is truly inspiring.
Everyone at Littlegarth is incredibly proud of their efforts. They have demonstrated our school values beautifully, showing that even a simple act can have a lasting impact on the lives of others.
We wish them every success in reaching their fundraising target – and we suspect that Mr Crame may be keeping a close eye on the total too!
Well done to both girls for making such a meaningful difference.
